Paddle Boarders unite!

1) Shuswap Lake. Obviously. There are countless places to paddle board on the Shuswap Lake. Some of our favorites are Canoe Beach, Heralds Park, anywhere in Scotch Creek or Celestia, Albas and Silver Beach are all great local favorites. Paddle along the shores and enjoy the scenery. On the big lake you will find the best paddling times are in the morning and evening when there are not as many boats on the water.

2) Johnson Lake – High in the mountains lies one of the clearest lakes in BC, in between Sun Peaks and Adams Lake. There is no beach at Johnson Lake in efforts to try and keep the lake as clean and organic as possible but there is a picnic area, bathroom facilities and camp sites. The 12 camp sites are available May 15- October 31st. On smaller Johnson lake there is a small resort offering 6 cabins for rent from June – October.

3)White Lake – White Lake is a small lake heading west out of Salmon Arm about 20 minutes from town. White Lake has four season homes, cabins, as well as two campgrounds and one resort. You will find mostly fishing boats, smaller boats, canoers, kayakers and yes, paddle boarders!

4)Enderby River – We have seen more and more people paddle boarding down the Enderby River, and it’s a great idea! Having a paddle board allows you to stay above the water, dip in to cool off and have more stability and control if trying to maneuver from one side of the river to the other. A paddle board acts as a great floating deck for the river.

5) Mara Lake – Mara Lake is situated about 20 km south of Sicamous and ties into the Sicamous channel were Mara lake meets the Shuswap Lake. Mara Lake is an often over looked, beautiful lake with summer homes, four season homes, marinas, cabins and campgrounds/ resorts and a public beach. Mara lake is not nearly as large as Shuswap Lake, but it is also less busy making it great for paddle boarding!

Have fun!
