A morning hike, a sunset beer - take time to appreciate the views!
Named the official Trail Community of BC, Vernon takes that name very seriously with over 300Km of trails in and around the city. Here are some of the best hikes and lookout spots in Vernon.
Kalamalka Lake Lookout
About a 5km out and back trail, accessible in all seasons and rated as easy. You guessed it, great views of Kalamalka lake! One of Vernon’s pride and joys.
Middleton Mountain
This 3.5km hike is located within the Farnsworth Nature Reserve, which protects the surrounding native grassland and wildlife. Estimated to take about 1 hr if going all the way to the top where you can enjoy great vies of Kalamalka Lake.
Rattlesnake Point Loop
Dog and family friendly, short 3.9km walk/hike that should take most people under 1 hour to complete. This trail is rated as easy. Enjoy views of Kalamalka Lake almost the entire hike!
Grey Canal
There are a few different lookout spots on the Grey Canal Trail. Silver Star Foothills loop which is a quick 2.3 Km loop gives you views of Swan Lake, City of Vernon and Middleton Mountain (which is noted above). Another great lookout is the Grey Canal, Davidson Orchard trail. An even quicker 1.5km trail which overlooks farmland.
