Looking at houses is arguably the most exciting part of buying a home. However, there a few things you should do before you start the house hunting process. Getting Pre-Qualified is the perfect first step. Here are five reasons why you should get pre-qualified before you start looking at houses

1) Getting Pre-Qualified will let you know what sort of houses are in your price range. You do not want to fall in love with a home that is way out of reach. On the contrary, it would be disappointing to miss out on a house you really liked because you did not know you could afford it. After a Pre-Qualification with the Tekamar team you will know exactly what direction you are headed.

2) Gain a better understanding about your credit health and history. During our initial consultations we like to show you your credit report and go everything with you. Give advice and guidance if necessary, or just explain the basics. Having a credit “check-in” is always a good idea.

3) Understand costs and fees that are associated with purchasing and have time to prepare for them. Besides the down payment, people often forget about other cost included in buying a home like appraisals, legal fees, property transfer tax, title insurance, home insurance ect. We can go over those costs, so you are not surprised once you have an accepted offer.

4) Sellers take you more seriously when they know you have already been pre-qualified for a certain mortgage amount or home. This can really help your case if you end up liking a house that has multiple offers already.

5) Can help reduce closing time once you have an accepted offer. If we have done a pre-qualification already, we will have most of the documents we will need and this will allow us to get your deal submitted quicker.
